Digital Camera Reviews

The thing to remember is that digital camera reviews are not meant to answer the endless debate of which camera is best. These are simply to help you find which camera might be right for you.

Digital cameras are in a state of evolvement and they are constantly being improved. New and better models come out every six months or so. No matter which camera you buy, a much better one will replace it next year (or the next week, at least that's how it seems).

So what is a photographer to do? I suggest you just get a camera that you like and enjoy using - and then get busy taking photos. Successful photographers take photographs. They don't waste a lot of time debating who has the latest, best camera, or what brand is better, etc.

Some things to look for when you are doing your own digital camera reviews may include:

  • Mega pixels - you don't really need more than 6 or 8 unless you are going to make posters
  • Camera size - depending on your needs, you really need to hold each camera in your hand to see
  • Zoom lens - don't scrimp here, talk to the camera store about what you plan to take photos of

Just get the best camera that fits your budget and get busy. This is not a test or a competition.

There is no "perfect" camera for every person or situation. Take a look at other high tech products in your life. Do you drive the exact same automobile as everyone else you know? Do you have the exact same phone? The exact same television? The exact same computer?

Chances are, you have purchased various products that are your personal preference. The same goes for your camera. Don't be intimidated by brand name and model number pressure.

One camera, for example, that a lot of professionals own and use when they travel or just for walking around, is the Nikon D40. It is small and light weight, fun to use, and it has many features of more expensive cameras. It doesn't replace a "super camera" but it quickly becomes a favorite camera for fun.

And fun is what photography is often about. If you are not working, or trying to win a contest, maybe having fun would be something to pencil in on the calendar.

Enjoy using your new digital camera.
